The ESL Bursary for International Students (CGSR) is a support program for international graduate students who would like to strengthen their English language skills by taking a course offered through The Language Centre.
ESL bursaries are available for the following courses only:

  • Advanced Writing and Applied Grammar
  • Advanced Spoken English
  • Graduate-Level Writing
  • Pronunciation
There are three eligibility criteria used in awarding a student an ESL Bursary
  • The applicant must be registered as a full-time international graduate student in good standing at the University of Saskatchewan in a degree program when you apply for a bursary.
  • The applicant’s graduate supervisor or graduate chair must recommend the applicant for an ESL class.
  • The applicant must meet the minimum English proficiency requirements at the University of Saskatchewan (applicant cannot have conditional holds due to language requirements).
There are a limited number of bursaries available for students. If there are more qualified students than the number of bursaries available, priority will be given to Ph. D. students and to those students who have not received a bursary in a previous term.
The applicant is required to pay a non-refundable administration fee of $25.00 to the Language Centre upon receipt of their confirmation e-mail. The ESL Bursary will be paid directly to the Language Centre by CGSR and will cover the cost of tuition for the assigned class only. The cost of textbooks and other class materials are an additional cost to the student.

All portions of this application must be completed. Incomplete applications will be automatically discarded.
